Fred Quine
Norths most honoured player and 1968 Mexico Olympian Fred Quine, will again taste the adrenalin rush when he carries the Olympic Torch through the Nundah area on 15 June 2000 on its way to Sydney.
If you saw the Olympic Torch carried through Brisbane in 1956 on its way to Melbourne it is a memory you have forever so don't miss the opportunity not only to see the torch but to see it carried by one of our Club's home grown finest.
It is worth looking at Fred's achievements during his career for his Club, State, and Country since he commenced playing in the early 1950's.

The records show that Fred had participated in over 500 matches during his career at the highest level and averaged a “Bradman” like average of a goal per game, an outstanding achievement.
Fred's Sporting activities, competitive or social, has always seen him striving for excellence whilst enjoying the game and the camaraderie. Fred earned the respect of others through his competitive spirit, his sense of fair play, and his humility have earned him the endearing and life long friendships he treasures today.
Fred was more than a handy cricketer, representing Brisbane at colts a grade level, competitive squash player, low handicap golfer (still socially), and these days his prowess is seen in his ever improving Lawn Bowls.
Whilst achieving success at the highest level in Hockey, Fred names his highlights as building up player numbers at Norths in the early 1960's when the seniors transported juniors from the orphanage to games and back, 1967 A Grade premiership win, the club's first, and obviously the winning of a Silver Medal in Mexico 1968.
Fred was also honoured at the State High School 75 th Anniversary when he was presented not only as an Olympian but as being named in a Cricket “Dream Team” with the likes of Michael Kasprowicz, Stuart Law, Ian Healy, Peter Allen, John Maclean, Glen Trimble and the like.
Hockey Queensland recently named their State “Team of the Century” and Fred was named in this side against some very talented contenders, further underlying his worth as a very competitive and dedicated sportsman.
