A Gutsy Effort.!

FIRST HALF

With 3 players not turning up and three of us going to the SHC by mistake, the night started a bit disorganised. With Drummo back and Trevor giving us a hand we had the men to do the job, but with the bare 11 it was going to be tough. They took advantage of our numbers and pushed up high and had numerous corners. Our corner defense failed miserably and they were even heard commenting on how it was very open. It seemed obvious that Luke must lay down and someone cover the post and clear. It wasn’t happening on the night and cost us dearly going 4 goals down. Lee got picked on by the ref and the bad decisions cost us goals. Issac made a brilliant individual run beating 4 or 5 penetrating the circle and getting off a shot, James picked up the rebound and took us to Half time 4 -1 down.

SECOND HALF

We came back out determined to do nothing but have fun and give 100%. Drummo moved into centre half and we push high desperately trying to get a few goals. With our strikers sitting high and Valleys pushing up our defense was outnumbered but held solid. Wardy and Travis were outstanding given their opposite numbers had superior speed and Travis displayed that eagle eye picking off attackers time and time again. Frank and myself combined to push high and put a ball across the net which James got and forced a stroke which Drummo converted. Soon after I managed to get a quick ball to Trevor who slotted one of the best goals of the season from the top left of the circle. They managed one back and we finished winning the second half. 10 more minutes and I thought we would have evened the score.

OVERALL

Basics let us down a little as did the guys who did not turn up. Credit to the guys who did as you all fought hard with no reserves. We need to start the game as we start every second half. We have the skills and the players to beat every team and now we are starting to score goals. We have 1 round to go and are not out of it yet. Good effort guys.
