Probably one of the better starts of the season. We slowed the play down and held possession but still are not building up the play enough. We need to force more penalties and get into a strong attacking position early in the game. Our right side combination with Doug, Lee and Steve S started very well and some good running by Isaac gave us a few opportunities. We had a few chances and were well in the game but couldn’t convert. They got one goal that came from an unmarked man in the circle and another from what should have been a penalty to us. Too many errors

That was the fastest downhill run I’ve seen this year. We started well and in the last 15 or so minutes looked like a reasonable 4th grade team. Some solid defense by Wayne, Damien and Frank kept the score at 2 nil down until they lifted a ball into the circle and scored. There No5 had the run of the park all day and that killed us from the start. Some solid running by Isaac, Steve Fanker, Steve Sawyer and David Ensbey. Again too many errors.

In speaking to some of the senior players, we identified some of the problems we have had in the first round.
1 Consistency of Team
2 Consistency of Players playing same position every week
3 Lack of ability to force corners
4 Lack of strength over the ball
5 Not forcing enough penalties
6 Going forward too fast too often.
In order to fix the first two, I have listed below the top 15 players for Division 3 based on performance after the first round.
I will only be using two or three players on the bench per game. So depending on the numbers, opportunities will arise for other players to run in thirds.

At the end of round one we are sitting in 5th spot and we must fix this. We are two wins, three losses and two draws. This needs to be at least four wins during round two if we are to make the top 4.
As during the first round the team will be on the website by Thusday each week. And will change slightly from week to week.
On paper we have a team that is as good or better than any other in the comp. What do you reckon we prove it next round!!!!
