v Kedron Wavell (in April) 3-4

1st Half

Managed to find a goal keeper, Rick, who has joined us full-time. A descision he may yet come to regret (did you see last weeks score?). Went on the field confident of a win (this was the last time we thought in terms of winning). Somehow we managed to pretty much lose our midfield. I was having a quiet game out on the wing trying to avoid further damage to my eye, Steve was resting up after a hectic game the day before (his red blood cells had just stopped working - no oxygen available for running). So, the left side attack was more ordinary than usual, I was just passing the ball on (so much for a strike forward) and Steve was , well just wasn't really. No defence much either in the areas most needed - when they were shooting for goals. By half time we had managed to concede a few penalty corners (I believe all their goals were in the first half and all were from corners). We had managed to get one back by the break through a nice goal from Bruce who didn't stop working all night (although, Bruce, I got the last touch!! and it wasn't even accidental. NB. usually I would have deflected it out into the field of play.

2nd Half

A different half this one (Remind me not to tell Ian that his overheads are good (they are though) as it hailed overheads, great big white hail stones dropping in from all over the place - or was that the 5th div game - god, the memories gone). We had several opportunities to score while avoiding being tackled by Mr Gough the scythe man. Graeme Wallace scored a good field goal from a breakdown after a corner (We screwed them up all night). Agit tried to break my face further with his waving stick - umpires continue to ignore his evil ways. I tried to whack him with the ball (umpire ignored my evil ways). Mr Gough (the aforementioned whom we were avoiding all night due to self-preservation thoughts. We, along with him, have no idea where it's going (direction ways) or how high it's going to be) whacked a ball out of the circle and I accidently backstick trapped it, thought, "shit, while you're hear you may as well have a shot at goal" and bugger me dead, straight in! final score 3-4. Shouldn't have lost though. Some good play all round the second half and if Owen can avoid killing Ian (pomme Ian) we should win a game soon. Col may have blown up once or twice in this game and Barry may have trapped the odd ball too, we, in general, were a particularly mediocre lot on the night. Points to remember, don't bomb overheads into the circle, duck, weave and dance a lot.
