v Storm (May 08) 5-0

1^st Half

Short again! had made an earlier call to Wes (from Easts) to help bolster our numbers to 11 but then Storm were two short so we lent them Wes. So it began as a ten-aside game half an hour late - the delay was caused by the trans-tasman series where aussie was getting a flogging from the kiwis - game went to strokes after drop off. We needed to warm up again (as if!). Local nazi on guard at the tunnel wouldn't let us in until the internationals had exited - we went in anyway and had a barny (and her name wasn't even Phylis). We scored 30 seconds into the first half when Bruce touched a neat pass from Barry into the goal (I assume it was a pass - if it was a shot it wasn't going to make it). Bruce netted the next two - a field goal and a narrow angled shot from a corner. 30 minute half as we were trying to make up time. Storm - 1 injury by now, a torn hamstring. See..... we should have warmed up again. A one two went deadfully wrong when the receiver of the two ran into their defender flat chat - interesting collison.

2^nd Half

By now Storm had reserves and they needed them as first a midfielder fell over (nothing to do with my tackle) and dislocated his finger. (NB. The first aid guys aren't allowed to put the finger back - avoid dislocations - add to list (duck, weave,dodge,avoid dislocations). Barry notched in another goal and then Steve had a shot from the top which the goalie didn't see. Another two Storm injuries, a mouth and then a head, saw the game called off early as the playing numbers were quickly getting whittled away. Asked everyone to pay up their fees - couldn't find anyone to drink with after the game (except for those who have already paid). Everyone played well but we still turned the ball over to frequently - something that's been a problem all season. Hint: Run to the player to help out if you see he's getting boxed in. Next week it's Redcliffe at 6:30...
