A good warmup and an excellent start saw us take the lead two up within the first 15 minutes.
We held the ball and gave ourselves opportunities. We forced penalties in the circle and managed to get a few short corners, one of which Doug put away after a lovely lob from Isaac.
Lee Brady managed another brilliant goal to make it two up and we were looking the goods.
Steve Sawyers was awsome in defense and with Marty holding the left side they were finding it hard to penetrate our lines. Until……..we had to play with 10 men for the rest of the game.
As soon as this happened they employed tactics to make us run and we did.
The second half was frustrating playing with 9 men for 5 minutes and with Lee Brady Injured and Isaac pushed to right half we were lacking up front.
We were starting to run out of legs and they moved the ball very well across field making our strikers and insides run a lot. This created gaps and next thing we know we were 5 -2 down.
We lack distribution through the centre and need to focus on moving the ball up the field. We need to work on positioning and switching the play.
With Andrew Harrington back next week and Mick in the net to steer the back line, we should be almost at full strength, awaiting the return of Bevan, who will strengthen our back line.
The loss was a blessing as I think we got cocky after the two early goals. I think it was a good lesson and we have highlighted a few areas that need attention.
The good thing was they showed us a few corner variations utilising the new rule. Thanks Commercial.
