Bar

  • The bar at The State Hockey Centre (SHC) is now run and operated by the Legends Community Sportsclub Inc. The Legends Sportsclub is situated at the SHC and is a fully licensed club with two fully equipped bars open from 10am till late seven days a week. Other facilities include gaming machines, keno, bottle shop, regular entertainment and promotions.

  • Being a licensed club, entry to the Legends Sportsclub is restricted. Membership is available at a cost of $11.00 per year, or you may utilise your reciprocal membership rights available with over 200 other licensed clubs. If you are at the SHC to participate or officiate in sport, you will be considered a bona fide visitor at the club.

  • The licensed area of the Legends Sportsclub includes the main area of the club itself, the Player's Bar and it also extends some 55 meters outside the Player's Bar into the courtyard area. During fixture weekends and special events special licensing arrangements enable the consumption of alcohol over a wider area of the SHC.

  • Dress standards are very relaxed although singlet tops and thongs are not permitted. The dress standard is at the discretion of management, however neat casual attire is most welcome.

Blue/Taxi Phones

  • A blue phone is located in the foyer of the Legends Sportsclub and is available for public use. Another Blue Phone is located in the foyer of the Grandstand.

  • Two free-call Yellow Cab phones are available, one at the rear of the main grandstand and the other in the foyer of the Legends Sportsclub.

Canteen/Legends Bistro

  • The canteen will open on fixture days until 6pm, special events and on request. Some canteen food is available at the Bistro outside of these hours.

  • Legends Bistro is open 7 days per week for dinner and every day for lunch except Saturdays (light meals are available from the bar on this day).

  • For bookings or catering enquiries contact the Legends Sportsclub on (07) 3395 7733.

Change Rooms

  • Four change rooms are available in the main grandstand, two for each field. The change rooms will be made available prior to the commencement of each game/training session.

  • Please ensure these change rooms are left clean and tidy after use.

  • If there are any problems or dissatisfaction regarding the condition of the change rooms, contact the SHC staff member on duty.

  • Change rooms are available for use prior to games.

Cleanliness

  • Please report any problems regarding cleanliness or hygiene immediately to the SHC staff member on duty.

  • Clean clothes should always be worn. This applies to socks in particular.

Comments/Complaints

  • Any comments or complaints should be directed to the SHC staff member on duty.


  • Formal complaints must be logged in the formal complaint book located in the SHC reception area before they can be examined and attended to.

  • All constructive comments are valuable in ensuring you, our customer, are provided with the best possible service.

Dugouts

  • The only people allowed into the dugouts during game/training times are the players, coach, manager, first aid officer and physio. There are no exceptions to this rule.

  • Arriving teams cannot enter the dugouts until the departing teams have left.

  • All persons must remain in the confines of the dugout area during the game. This is a safety requirement and must be strictly adhered to.

  • The hirer is responsible for the removal of any rubbish from the dugouts by departing team members after game/training times.

Grandstand/Fences

  • Smoking is not permitted under the grandstand.

  • Jumping over the fence is not permitted.

Entry/Access to SHC

  • The only public access to the SHC is through the Northern and Southern entry gates.

  • Persons playing or training must enter and leave the field at official entry points only.

  • Access to the SHC through the Legends Sportsclub is prohibited, however entrance from the SHC into Legends Sportsclub is permitted when patrolled.

  • Gates to fields are opened 15 minutes prior to start time of the first game of the day. There is to be no admittance to the fields prior to this time.

First Aid

  • The first aid room is available for the use of all SHC hirers, however the hirer is responsible for the provision of a qualified first aid attendant.

  • A qualified first aid attendant will be on duty during all BHA, BWHA and Hockey Queensland sanctioned games/fixtures and is easily identified by his/her distinctive clothing.

  • In an emergency situation contact the SHC staff member on duty.

  • If the hirer is unable to provide a first aid attendant, contact the SHC who can organise one prior to an event.

  • Playing or training persons sustaining bleeding injuries shall move or be removed from the turf as soon as possible and any blood stains on the turf must be reported to SHC staff to allow cleaning.

  • Playing or training persons shall not take the field with bleeding wounds or wounds that are not adequately covered.

  • Severely (fresh) blood contaminated clothing is not to be worn on the turfs.

Fixtures

  • All enquiries about BHA, BJHA and BWHA games/fixtures should be directed to the relevant association.

  • Priority is given to BHA, BWHA and Hockey Queensland games/fixtures and training, however time slots are also available for independent hirers. Enquiries regarding bookings should be directed to the SHC.

  • All warming up is to be done outside of the main circles and nets and there is to be no hitting balls onto block walls or fences.

  • At completion of a fixture, players must clear the dugouts as quickly as possible.

Ice

  • Bags of ice can be purchased from the SHC at $2.00 per bag.

Lighting

  • There are 4 levels of lighting at the SHC, to suit different requirements.

  • As soon as the last gameltraining session is completed the lights will be turned down to training level. Ten minutes following that, the field lights will be turned off, with only courtyard, security and car park lighting remaining.

Lost Property

  • All lost property will be held in the SHC reception area.

PA System

  • A PA System is available if required by the hirer. Prior arrangements for the use of the PA system should be made at the time of booking with the SHC.

  • The hirer must sign for the equipment on the day of use.

Public Transport

1. City Train - Cleveland Line to Cannon Hill Station (2 km from SHC).

2. Bus - Balmoral 235 - departs stop Kangaroo (A) Myer Centre City Bus Terminal to Fifth Av. Balmoral (1.5 km from SHC)

3. Ferry - Hamilton City Cat to Bulimba Ferry Terminal (2.5 km from SHC)

Technical Benches

  • The technical benches will remain locked unless the SHC receives a list of officials/persons responsible for the bench, at the time of booking.

  • The technical bench is to be manned by officials from the hiring organisation only, with no exceptions to this rule. If there is no official present the SHC will operate the timing of the fixture and the technical bench will remain closed.

Training

  • Training will be on Field 2 whenever possible. Field 1 will be utilised only is Field 2 is unavailable.

  • The use of "D's" is not permitted unless a full-field training game is being played.

  • The eastern side goal nets only are to be utilised for training drills.

  • There is to be no hitting of balls against block wall/wire fence surrounds of the field.

  • No training is to be undertaken in the main circles or nets.

  • No training is to be undertaken in the south-western training circle of Field 2, and the north western training circle of Field 1.

  • Exiting and returning to the field to retrieve any balls hit out of the field is through official entry points only. Jumping over the fence is not permitted.

  • Hitting balls onto block walls or fences is not permitted.

  • At the conclusion of a training session, the field is to be cleared within 5 minutes of the scheduled finish time, i.e. 8.00pm finish time - field should be cleared by 8.05pm.

  • All training sessions must be booked through BHA, BWHA or Hockey Queensland.

  • Each association must notify the SHC of training time requirements at least 5 business days prior to the booking date.

State Hockey Centre Staff Member

  • A SHC staff member will be on duty whenever the SHC is open.

  • Any problems should be reported to the staff member on duty.

  • A staff member can be found in the SHC reception area, or alternatively contact the Duty Manager at the Legends Sportsclub.

  • The SHC staff member can be identified by recognisable uniform with the SHC logo on the front.

Watering of Fields

  • If a team is dissatisfied with the moisture of the turf, contact the SHC staff member on duty.

Windy Days

  • Spectators may get wet from the water spray used on the fields before, during and after the game.

Care of Surface

  • The following items are prohibited from the turf:

  1. Cigarettes, cigars and pipes

  2. Chewing gum or lollies

  3. All foodstuffs

  4. All drinks other than water/sports drinks

  5. Drinking glasses and cans

  6. High heel or Stiletto shoes

  • The surface must be cleaned of all foreign material after each use. (All tape used for holding protective equipment etc. must be removed.)

  • Spitting on the surface is not permitted.

  • All footwear must be cleaned of exterior rubbish (stones, dirt, mud, grass etc.) before entry to the surface.

  • Players or officials on the artificial surface are not permitted to wear footwear with leather or metal sprigs, screw-in plastic sprigs or molded rubber/plastic sprigs of less than 15 per boot.

  • Goalkeepers may wear boots with molded rubber sprigs or molded plastic sprigs provided they are trimmed down to protrude no more than 7mm from the sole and are ground to a smooth dome so that no sharp edges damage the turf. No other type of sprig is permissible.

  • All toe caps are to be taped

  • Sharp objects such as buckles must be covered.

  • Hard protective guards for knees and elbows are not permitted.

  • All balls, domes etc. shall be clean of all foreign matter before being used on the artificial surface.

  • Goalkeepers shall not mark the circle of the artificial surface in any way as done on natural grass surfaces.

Entry Gate Guidelines

  • Adults (18 & Over) $2.80

  • Children (17 & Under) Free

  • Season Pass $23.00

  • Entry Gate shall be in operation for all Weekend Fixtures (including Friday Evenings)

  • There shall be no Entry Gate during Junior Fixtures with the exception of those periods where there is also Senior Fixtures occurring

  • Season Passes are not permitted for some Major Events & Senior Grand Final Day

  • Access into the State Hockey Centre shall only be via the designated Entry Gate

  • Entry shall be through the Northern Entry Gate with the exception of some Major Events

  • The cost of Entry for Major Events shall vary

  • Gold Medal Club Members & FIH Accredited persons are permitted Free Entry for all Events

Field Allocation and Venue Availability Policy

  • The usage of Field 1 shall rotate weekly between Brisbane Hockey Association and Brisbane Women's Hockey Association, with this to alternate prior to the commencement of the first booking each Sunday

  • There shall be no Division 1 Senior Fixtures BHA and BWHA matches played at the same time

  • The organisation allocated Field 1 on the rotation shall have first scheduling right of Division 1 Senior Fixtures during the period of their Field 1 allocation

  • All Division 1 Matches shall be played on Field 1 with the exception of those permitted during Major Events

  • All Major Events shall have first option of hire on State Hockey Centre facilities, in consultation with the Hirer of the period.

  • All Major Events shall be held on Field 1, or Field 1 & Field 2 where necessary

  • The State Hockey Centre reserves the right to prevent any hire on Field 2 whilst Major Events are occurring on Field 1

  • In the case of a Major Event only requiring Field 1, the State Hockey Centre shall liase with BHA and BWHA regarding the scheduling of Field 2 during this period of hire

  • The State Hockey Centre shall endeavour to grant all requests where possible, however, it should be noted that any scheduling decision made by the State Hockey Centre shall be final

  • The State Hockey Centre reserves the right to alter any booking schedule as it feels necessary, however, all booking alterations shall be conducted in consultation with the hirer of that period
